Summer of 2009

My last post was about leaving my previous employer and not long after that, I joined another company.

Within the first month of my employment, the company sent me to Boise, Idaho for a one month training. I was so happy that I finally get to go to the United States of America.

Going alone for a month will be less fun and could be misarable as I will be missing my husband and my husband will be missing me. But God is good, and His timing is always perfect.

I was scheduled to leave for US on 29th June 2009 and hubby's last day is supposedly on 30th June 2009. One day different. We prayed that his boss would allow him to leave earlier, so that he can fly with me together to Boise. God is good, hubby is allowed to leave early and we both we so excited that we get to travel together!

When I look back to the months of July and August 2009, I am always grateful to God for the good times we had in Boise. Although it is a small town and there were nothing much to do there (as some may say), we enjoyed ourselves so much and we both shared great memories there.

Since the both of us were married, God has shown His goodness to us many many times. We know that He will never stop being a good Father that gives good gifts to His children if His children choose to obey Him!

Oh God, thank you for everything that You have blessed us with! We love You and we want to keep on obeying and honoring You! Amen!

5 cents

First of all, this blog has been inactive for quite a long time...sorry about that..

Anyway, we were eating in a restaurant and the bill amounted to RMxx.25 after the rounding up / rounding down adjustment introduced by the Bank Negara not too long ago.

So, we paid and of course we are expecting the change to be RMx.75. However, what came back to us is short of 5 cents.

Well, you may think what is the big deal with 5 cents but why bother charging us the 5 cents when the restaurant is not bothered to return is the 5 cents?

If a restaurant short change 100 customers by 5 cents each day, in a month, it will get RM5 x 30days which is equivalent to RM150.

If let's say the restaurant is running out of 5 cent coins, at least return 5 cents more to customers rather than to return less. We think that it is the restaurant's responsibility to ensure that there are enough change for it's operations.

Will you tell off the cashier if they short change you next time?

Deja Vu

Many people in the company are leaving by 31st March 2009, and some left today.

The compound is full of people who are bidding goodbye and wishing each other the best. Our time will come soon.

Seeing these thing happening, it reminds me of our primary and secondary school time (Standard 6 and Form 5 in particular).

Remember the time, after the end of the year exam, the class will plan for the year end party...and after the long school holidays start, there is a chance that we will not see our classmates next year? And if you have finished your form 5, then it's the major goodbye.

It brings me back to that school days memory seeing colleagues saying the major goodbye to each other.

It's a sad thing..but like they say, life must go on..

What's new?

Wow, it has been 4 weeks since we last updated this blog.

What's new with us?

It has to do with the economy. Both of us are going to be retrenched, and many people are concerned about us.

Truthfully, both of us were not worried at all, because we trust that our mighty God, Jehovah Jireh is our provider.

True enough, WL got a job, not only one, but a few offers. Reminds me of the Jesus feeding the 5,000 story. With 2 fish and 5 loaves, there is extra 12 baskets of leftovers. It's the employers' market now, but God is gracious. Always.

Happy First Anniversary!

Yesterday was our anniversary.

It has been a wonderful and colorful journey for the both of us and we thank God for this special blessing.

There were happy times, there were not so happy times.

But a marriage that is God centered will grow. This is what we hope our marriage will be.

We've heard of some marriage jokes, whereby everything turns upside down after the boyfriend or girlfriend became the husband or the wife. When we read those jokes, we may laughed and nodded.

But in reality, life after marriage does not become dead and boring, does it? It depends on each couple to make or break it.

Don't let the world dictate how our life after marriage should be. We know what we are into when we said "I do", don't we?

It's just our first anniversary, we have a lot more to learn from each other and from other couples.

Here's to more long lived and happily married couples all over the world!

My Favourite Teacher

I was teaching in Sunday School yesterday. The lesson was about Jesus feeding the 5,000 hungry people.

There were 13 children yesterday and half of them are new, and the other half are the old ones.

It's difficult to "control" these children by myself! My assistant (LK) was away on a business trip and I am clueless how a teacher in scholl can keep a class of 30 to 40 small children (7 to 8 years old) in control.

Anyway, I let them play with word puzzle. Some of them are really serious in doing it by themselves and some of them gave up quite easily. They are proud when the have found one of the words in the list and imagine so many of them keep on announcing to me they are one step closer to completing it!

"Well done!" "Good job!" "Keep it up!" "Come on, don't give up" "Very good, try looking for the next one" "Here is the answer"...those are the words I said...

In spite of all these "noise and chaos", one girl came to me and said, "Teacher, did you know that you are my favourite Sunday School teacher?"

Wow...I'm so glad to hear that =) This little girl, I can still remember the first time she entered my class. She was so shy and was reluctant to come into the class because, according to her mom, I looked like her school teacher.

It made my day to know that I'm her favourite. And as I continue to teach Sunday School, I hope that I will in some small little ways make an impact on their walk with Jesus.

It's a great thing to serve the Lord;

God, are you being funny now?

With that title, I am not complaining because it is a "nice" joke.
It thrills me, but at the same time, it is difficult to make the decision.

I prayed to God for something..
And so it was answered…and it was abundant.

After that, it was a waiting period…a long time waiting until I thought that things would be status quo. In between, the first prayer was still being answered when I thought that God has finished answering.

I was waiting for the next process to eventuate. It never came until today, when I finally get some response.

Today is the 2nd week of the financial month and it is the most relaxing week of the month. Not many people is around in office, so things are quite slow going and can be quite boring too.

My first half of the day is mundane.

Things started to get electrifying (I do get a lot of mini shocks when I touch metal stuff nowadays) after lunch. Second prayer is getting answered at about 2pm, and then still receiving 1st prayer answer!

All this is in the midst of a company crisis (you may have guessed what this prayer is about). I would say God's timing is so perfect, but now I need to pray again for the wisdom to make the right decision.

Prayer is really powerful. I just tell God what concerns I have and He has been faithful in answering them, though not immediately all the time.

LK is also my answered prayer. The main difference is that, God only send me one answer that time. And no delayed answer!

If there were more answers, it would be another problem!

Oh God, You are almighty, all powerful…and also humorous!
